Woke up to rain in Chicagoland, which we were needing as it was rather hot the last couple of days and I was having to water my container vegetables that were looking a bit droopy. Months ago I’d marked on my calendar to think about heading to Michigan this weekend as blueberries are in season and I was wanting to stock up for the year.
At first, I’d completely forgotten about it. Boy I’d have been mad if it hadn’t popped back into my head. Instead of going all the way into Michigan though, we found a place at the edge of Indiana, in Michigan City, Billy Boy’s Blueberry Farm, which has a U-Pick operation, as well as the ability to just buy a whole bunch of them. Which I did. Though it was a cash only operation, somehow I managed to scavenge up $50 in actual cold, hard, American cash to buy 15 pounds of delicious blue berries at $3.30/lb. The U-pick ones were only $1.90 a pound, but it was raining, and we brought Col. Cuddlesworth and he wasn’t allowed in the field.
