When eating out with friends, it can often be hard to find a place that will suit everyone’s needs and tastes. We found just such a place in Kasa – an Indian eatery in San Francisco’s Castro District.
First off, as I attempted to cobble together and place my all-veggie order, the woman behind the counter asked if I were vegan, and was able to explain that one could get three dishes, instead of the usual two, which I appreciated. It was not clearly marked when I walked in the door. Plus, she wanted to make sure I wouldn’t eat anything that might make me ill. While I don’t have those sorts of dietary restrictions, I know people that do and I definitely appreciate the sentiment them taking the time to think about it. It’s good to have someone else looking out for you when you’re eating out.

rThe plate came loaded with food – including rice, naan, a crunchy salad that I really enjoyed eating, the chana masala, gobi aloo and their daily vegetarian special, a green bean and potato dish I really enjoyed. I’d have liked it aesthetically if they’d gotten all of the strings off the green beans, but that can be a lot of work.
I thought all of the flavors were really good and I would be eager to go back and try anything else compliant on the menu.

Two of us ate there for about $30 with just water to drink. The veggie plate we had was a special that included a beer for $14. I did without the beer.
VegScore: 29% + a lot of additional Vegetarian items as well.
